Patterns & Borders & Frames, Oh My! - Kathy Milici

Patterns & Borders & Frames Logo

Welcome to the world of patterns and borders! Let’s adventure together and explore linear decoration based on traditional styles and design our own modern versions!

In this class, you’ll learn the step-by-step process of creating beautiful borders and frames with rich visual impact like: Autumn leaves, ferns, feathers, rose vine, buttons, bubbles, pierced ribbon, ocean wave, woven, braided, geometric…and so much more!

Using simple techniques, students will create and transfer pencil sketches to watercolor paper and complete their original design in full color. From hand-drawn design to finished, painted art, Kathy’s detailed, guided instruction and relaxed, understandable approach, you’ll find these designs easy and fun to create!

You’ll learn unique design terminology and see/make patterns like: repeat, curved, turned, alternating, interlocking, freeform, organic, enclosed, wrapped, and tessellated.

You’ll also create your own vintage rosette designs, the well-loved and admired ornaments of architectural history. Perfect for upcoming holiday gift-giving!

Add Kathy’s tips, tricks, templates, bonus items, a sprinkling of humor and uplifting cheer, here’s a design workshop that’s a sure winner!

Class recordings will be available to view until March 1.
